Lenord + Bauer has been developing, producing and marketing robust compact controls for a wide range of applications for more than 25 years. Our compact controls are designed to withstand temperature fluctuations, condensation, vibration, salt mist, or dust.
This specific production and development know-how is one of Lenord + Bauer's core competencies, which is particularly appreciated by wind turbine manufacturers. Worldwide, more than 20,000 compact control systems work reliably under environmental conditions prevailing in the nacelle that adversely affect electronics. They are used for blade angle control (pitch control) as well as for condition monitoring.
The majority of control systems developed by Lenord + Bauer are customer-specific solutions for which we have adapted the circuit diagram and printed circuit board layout, the housing technology, and/or the EMC design to meet customer requirements. Typical quantities range between several hundred to many thousand units per year. Of course these are quality-tested series products; upon request, we will gladly provide you also with a prototype in advance.
The compact controls feature a weather-resistant display with membrane keyboard. The integrated PLC is freely programmable in the IEC 61131-3 programming languages FUP, KOP, ST, AWL and AS via CODESYS. Important functional groups, as well as inputs and outputs, are electrically isolated. This is also the reason why the devices pass the high voltage tests conducted by Lenord + Bauer for robust equipment, thus by far exceeding the standard requirements.
In addition to a large number of digital and analogue inputs and outputs, 6 absolute synchronous serial interface encoder inputs are available. They are designed to implement controls for up to a maximum of six axes. Using a CAN bus control system, this can optionally be extended to up to 64 axes.

As of late, fieldbus terminal controllers for decentralised applications have been included in the delivery program. They are, among other things, used for active temperature management in wind turbines. However, thanks to a variety of available interfaces, they are also suited for the entire field of automation that requires high-resistant electronics, just like compact controls.
