Magnetic sensor scans structurally separated measuring scale

The Lenord + Bauer magnetic speed sensors detect rotational and linear motion of a measuring scale that is structurally separated from the sensor. Target wheels or measuring rods made of ferromagnetic or electroconductive materials serve as respective measuring scales

Measuring system free of maintenance and wear

A major advantage of magnetic sensors is the contactless, and thus wear-free sensing principle, which is particularly suited for continuous operation in durable capital goods. Thanks to an encapsulation process and specially developed production methods, Lenord + Bauer speed sensors are also protected against extreme weather conditions, humidity, shock, and vibration. Thus they are in compliance with DIN EN 50155 and meet the requirements of protection class up to IP 69 K.

Typical fields of application in the heavy-duty area

Typical fields of application are mainly drive controls, and brake and train control systems in rail vehicles. But due to their long life expectancy and robust design, they are also frequently used in the heavy industry, on oil drilling platforms or lock gates.

Special designs available as customised product version

The speed sensors produced by Lenord + Bauer are to a large extent customised product versions. By adapting the housing, or different cable and plug fabrication, we can implement almost any installation position. Depending on requirement, the sensors generate single or multi-channel square-wave signals - alternatively as voltage or current signal - ranging from 0 to 25 kHz. A standstill signal can also be implemented. On customer request we also produce, for instance, ATEX-protected product variants, special output signals for functional testing, and sensors with integrated pulse division or pulse multiplication.
